The Float-N-Fly In Depth | The Ultimate Bass Fishing Resource Guide® LLC

The Float-N-Fly In Depth | The Ultimate Bass Fishing Resource Guide® LLC: "I fully expect to be taunted by several of my fellow anglers by writing about a bobber and crappie jig technique that just so happens to involve a 10ft fairy wand in any serious bass fishing publication. But I can guarantee you one thing: if your lakes meet all the requirements and conditions for this technique, and you put this tactic to work for you, I can pretty much GUARANTEE you success and not to mention a lot of winter time memories. To be brutally honest, I haven't even written about this technique in my local journals that I write for until now, for the sole reason that I really didn't want it to gain a lot of notoriety. It's pretty powerful and is probably one of the easiest if not the easiest technique to master in all of fishing."

Spring Bass tips by Dan Wells

Spring Bass tips by Dan Wells: "As late winter turns to early spring bass began to feel the urge to full fill their primary need in nature, reproducing!  Keeping in mind that bass must reproduce every year and understanding what they need to have a successful spawn are the best tools you can keep in your tackle box during the spring transition.

Largemouth’s optimal water temp for spawning is 63-70 degrees and the best bottom composition for them is a light sand/gravel bottom that can easily be swept clean. The first step is finding the good bottom that they will spawn on. Look in the back of coves, pockets and flats. Once you have found the right bottom you can start to track and anticipate the water temps  as to when they will actually show up to do their thing and you can be one step ahead of them."

Crappie Fishing Tips That Can Work For You | Crappie Fishing

Crappie Fishing Tips That Can Work For You | Crappie Fishing: "Has crappie fishing been of some interest to you? Don’t worry; it’s really not that difficult.Crappie Fishing is a multidimensional activity that offers fun to people of any level of skill or experience.
Patience is one of the most important tool you can apply to crappie fishing.Don’t allow yourself to get irritated or you might end up losing your mind.
Many fishermen use light bobbers when crappie fishing during the night. Lighted bobbers have a small lightbulb inside to help you notice when fish are biting.
TIP! Casting close to the shore can help you catch more fish. Fish like shallow waters, as they’re easier to find food in, so you’re more likely to get a bite there as well.
Your hook must be very sharp to catch lots of fish. If your hook is not sharp, the fish won’t be attracted to your bait and you won’t be able to catch anything."

How to Fish Your Way Around Cold Water Jerkbaits | The Ultimate Bass Fishing Resource Guide® LLC

How to Fish Your Way Around Cold Water Jerkbaits | The Ultimate Bass Fishing Resource Guide® LLC: "Bassmaster Magazine recently featured another illustrious “Day on the Lake” article by Don Wirth in which likeable razorback pro Mike McClelland provided an excellent education on how to lure slow moving bass from 48-degree water with his suspending McStick jerkbait.
There’s no doubt suspending stickbaits have accounted for tens-of-thousands of tournament winnings when water surface temps are in the 40s throughout America’s heartland. And McClelland has certainly sacked up his fair share of coin on the slow moving shad imitators.
McClelland suspects that the inability for most guys to remain patient, in order to pause for as long as 30 to 45 seconds between the twitches of the lure once it’s reached its suspending depth, is the reason many anglers lack success with them."

Where anglers drag sleds, ice houses, or portable shelters loaded with gear that a southerner never sees, across a sheet of ice to a spot they've scouted before, to fish through a hole with scaled-down rods the size of my neighbor boy's Snoopy rig, reels, and line. When ice forms over fishing water, summer, boats, and topwater lures are long gone. Nevertheless, once the ice is sufficiently thick to support the weight of fishermen and gear, numerous anglers venture out, knowing ice fishing can be one of the most rewarding times to fish; especially in small lakes and ponds."

The fish in California are distant relatives of the original group of Florida strain largemouth bass that were placed in a small reservoir to reproduce offspring with a trophy class bloodline. Or so it seemed atop the Walleye Capital of the World, where license plates in waterfront parking lots proved anglers from all over the Great Lakes have converged on the Western Basin of Lake Erie to catch huge walleyes. Such diversity in geographic draw isn’t unusual to see during the open water season on the southernmost Great Lake, which is known for giving up giant ‘eyes. Lake Erie’s ice bite, however, has been MIA for nearly a decade. Not for lack of big walleyes, but for lack of ice."

However, every year I travel to Northland on an LBG trip and spend some time on the wharves up there. These trips are full of big days on the rocks and long walks, so a day on the wharf – which often makes a great fishing platform – offers a chance to rest the body before another big day."

Bass Fishing Tip: Go Slow for Spring Largemouth | Field & Stream

Bass Fishing Tip: Go Slow for Spring Largemouth | Field & Stream: "In early spring, bass move onto reservoir flats to warm up prior to spawning. They’re sluggish in cold water, so they’ll often ignore a fast-moving crankbait or a bulky spinnerbait. But a jig that is swimming like a slow-moving baitfish is an offer they often can’t refuse. A weedless, 1⁄8- to 3⁄8-ounce jig in black, brown, or green pumpkin works best with this horizontal presentation. Tip the hook with a matching pork or plastic chunk trailer to add a realistic fluttering action. Fish the combo on a 7-foot, medium-heavy spinning or baitcasting outfit with 8- to 12-pound fluorocarbon."

Being Frugal With Soft Plastics | The Ultimate Bass Fishing Resource Guide® LLC

Being Frugal With Soft Plastics | The Ultimate Bass Fishing Resource Guide® LLC: "How many of us have been through this?  You have some down time in the winter to re-organize your tackle and you begin to see a pattern with your soft plastic lures.  The number of bags in the pile that you use often is many times smaller than the number of packs of lures that you own.  Why is this?  If you’re like me then the reason is simple.  I like spending money on fishing and when I get excited about a new lure or one that I’ve just been introduced to, especially a soft plastic, I go a little crazy with my spending.  This causes me to have an overabundance of lures in colors that I generally wouldn’t use.  This doesn’t happen overnight, mind you.  Usually after several years of anglers experimenting with what kind of plastic baits and in what colors they most often use, they will be stuck in this situation."

Most of the arguments that fishermen have are valid arguments for all the main baits, Crankbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits or plastic worms if your talking about fishing for bass only.
