Summer Bass with a Drop Shot: "  A favorite technique for many summer anglers is drop-shotting.  When the water is warm and the fishing is slow drop-shotting can be a lethal strategy for the tournament angler or just a lot of fun for the recreational angler. It is a great technique to use when introducing fishing to children.  Drop-shotting is simply a weight below a small soft-plastic lure so that the bait suspends just off bottom in the summertime strike zone.
